27. Expand the selection up to the beveled edge just behind the face. Then, press q to
open the Change Surface dialog box. Set this surface as iPod_Back and set the
color to a bright gray. Click on Smoothing as well. Figure 9.52 shows the iPod
with its new surfaces.

28. Save your model!
So now you have most of the base model. It has surfaces set up and ready for
you to apply textures, add reflections, shading, and so on. But there??™s still the
issue of the connectors. The next project will take you further with a few more
modeling steps.
Drilling the Connectors
You??™ve seen that detailing the edges makes a big difference in the appearance of the model,
as well as some basic surface colors. But the final details for the model will be in the connectors
at the top and bottom??”one for the earplugs, and one for the charger??”in addition
to markings and the main dial.
