Click and drag down in the Back view to extrude the
disc a bit so that it intersects with the iPod, as shown in Figure 9.56. Again, you
can hold the Ctrl key to constrain the operation.

6. Press the spacebar to turn off the Extrude tool. Then, press Shift+a to fit the selection
to view.
7. Next, after a quick save, press q to open the Change Surface dialog box. Give the
earplug object a surface name, and color it a bright yellow (Figure 9.57). You??™ll see
why in a moment. Click OK to close the Change Surface dialog box.

8. Press ' (the apostrophe key, two keys to the right of the l on your keyboard) to
make the current layer (containing the earplug object) a background layer and
brings the iPod layer to the foreground.
The earplug object must occupy a background layer for the next step to work.
You??™re going to use it to cut a hole in the iPod.
