Set the
color to an off-white or gray.
13. Move the disc up so that it intersects with the background layer (the iPod object)
just below the surface edge, as shown in Figure 9.61.

14. Then, press ' (the apostrophe key) again to reverse layers.
15. On the Construct tab, select the Solid Drill command, or press Shift+c.
16. In the Solid Drill dialog box, choose Stencil. For the Surface listing, make sure the
surface name you created, Earplug_Trim, is selected. Then, click OK to perform
the operation.
In a moment, the outer edge of the earplug hole will have a colored ring, as shown
in Figure 9.62.
Note
The Solid Drill command with a Stencil allows you to effectively create a 3D branding
iron for your models.You can create a letter, for example, and stencil it into another
object.The only caveat is that you must intersect the objects in two layers.The branding
iron, or cutting tool,must be located in a background layer.
