17. Save your object. Then, press ' (the apostrophe key) to reverse layers. Then, delete
the disc tool, as you??™ll no longer need it. You can press Delete (on your keyboard)
or Ctrl+x to cut it.
Note
18. You can go back to the iPod layer and view your model in the Perspective view to
see how it??™s coming along. Be sure to save your work.
Pressing Ctrl+x to cut an object works similar to a delete, except that it keeps the
item in memory. Since the current object is so minor, there??™s no issue with keeping it
in memory, no matter what system you??™re working on.
19. Perform an incremental save to save a new version of the object. Go to a new layer
(you can press the apostrophe key to reverse layers again) and in the top view, create
a rectangle, as in Figure 9.63.
Figure 9.63 Create a rectangle, which will serve as the recess for the iPod Dock connector.
20. Move the box to the bottom of the model, making sure it??™s centered and slightly
intersected with the iPod in a background layer, as shown in Figure 9.64. You??™re
doing the same thing here as you did with the earplug.
