Remember, when working with Symmetry, a ???reflected??? duplicate of everything you
create on the right (positive) side of the X-axis is created on the left (negative) side of
the X-axis. It??™s important to only use Symmetry deliberately as its accidental use can
cause problems during normal Modeler operations.
Leave all other settings at their defaults. Figure 10.14 shows the settings.
Figure 10.14 Use the Multishift command to begin creating the penguin??™s flippers.
You??™ll use Modeler??™s Multishift tool to shape the flippers because it allows you to
bevel groups of polygons all at once. (The Bevel tool, by contrast, works on just
one polygon at a time.)
8. Close the Numeric panel, then press the spacebar to turn off the Multishift tool.
You??™re now on your way to building the penguin??™s flippers. Keeping the two polygons
selected (the selection remaining after the previous Multishift operation),
turn the Multishift tool on again.
