14. Now take some time on your own and adjust any points as you see fit. Take the
bottom two rows of points on the body and stretch them together a bit. Figure
10.29 shows the shape. You can use the Drag tool, lasso-select an entire row of
points and stretch them, and so on.
Figure 10.29 Squash the penguin a bit to pull the shape up at the base.
15. Save your work!
Adjusting the model is not so hard, is it? One of the main reasons you can make simple
adjustments here and see results is because you??™re working with subpatches on simple
geometry. It??™s a powerful combination. But wait, there??™s more! You need to add some feet
and eyes to this little guy before you get to surfacing.
Exercise 10.4 Building the Penguin??™s Feet
The relative importance of body features such as feet varies from character to character.
With hoofed animals, for example, feet are relatively nondescript and don??™t require too
much detail. Penguin feet are another story, however. Along with their eyes (which you??™ll
build shortly), penguin feet are major defining characteristics??”critical to their look and
their motion. So make your penguin some happy feet.
