23. You??™ll see how to surface the penguin in the videos on the book??™s DVD; however,
it??™s good to see the model as complete as possible now, before you add other
details and get ready for animation. First, select Layer 1, the penguin layer. Press q
to open the Change Surface dialog box. Name the surface Penguin_Body; choose
black as the surface color; and type in a Specularity setting of 80%. Click OK to
close the panel. Figure 10.56 shows the results.

24. The entire object won??™t be black; the nose, the feet, and the belly remain to be assigned
separate surfaces and colors. But since the majority of the character is black, you
can set this surface first. Select the polygons that make up the beak of the penguin.
25. Press q and set the color to an orangey-yellow and name these polygons
Penguin_Beak.
26. Next, select the feet of the penguin in Polygons mode, change their surface name
to Penguin_Feet, and color them yellow. Figure 10.
