Set the surface name of the selected polygons to Penguin_Eye_Pupil, and color
the surface black. Figure 10.61 shows the eye.
Figure 10.61 Change the surface name and color the last part of the eye to create a pupil.
33. Repeat the previous steps to surface the other eye in Layer 3. Figure 10.62 shows
all three layers together??”the penguin and the two eyes. You can use the same surface
settings, so it??™s only a matter of selecting the desired polygons, pressing q, and
applying the surface.
Figure 10.62 Adding surfaces to the penguin and the eyes starts to give the character
more charm.
34. Save your work. You did it!
While it??™s taken a little bit of work, you have successfully modeled your own character in
LightWave. And most likely, you??™ve put your own artistic ability into it and have created
something much better than what was described here.
The Next Step
Use the techniques presented here to build whatever you want??”the process is the same
throughout. It??™s a matter of generating the basic shape and then molding it into the shape
you desire. You add details with multiplication tools, transition tools, and rotation.
