This brief example of subsurface scattering is just the tip of the iceberg. You might interested
to know that glass looks awesome with subsurface nodes. To truly see the effects of
this feature, watch the video tutorial on the book??™s DVD to explain this technique further.
What you??™ve done in this exercise helps strengthen your work in the Node Editor by adding
gradients and applying them as inputs. You learned how to change inputs and outputs as
well as incorporate scene changes to an existing scene with nodes applied. The next project,
in which you create some everyday surfaces, will take you even further with the Node Editor.
Exercise 11.4 Image Mapping with Nodes
The previous exercise briefly introduced you to the subsurface scattering nodes, which
you??™ll see put into further action through the video on the book??™s DVD. For now, you??™ll set
up another surface for the capsule scene you??™ve been working on, then take your nodes
one step beyond by surfacing the still-life scene you modeled in Chapter 8.
1. Continuing from the last exercise, select the Floor surface in the Surface Editor.
Then, click the Edit Nodes button to open the Node Editor.
