Chapter 12 Bones and Rigging 501
Tip
This quick-and-dirty example showed you how to create bones in Layout. The
base object that you assigned bones to does not have to be null??”it can be anything
you want, from a character to a snake to a piece of paper. Anything you
want to deform can have bones added to it. Granted, this wasn??™t very exciting,
was it? Read on, and we??™ll see bones in action.
Note
Exercise 12.2 Adding Bones to Objects
This exercise takes you a step further than the previous tutorial by showing how to put
bones into an object. From there, you??™ll see how bones can be used to manipulate the
shape of an inanimate object.
1. First, check the bottom of the Layout
interface to make sure that Auto Key
is enabled.When working with bones,
it??™s good to use this feature because
you can concentrate on motions, and
LightWave will record the changes.
Select Clear Scene from the File
drop-down list in Layout. Load
the Penguin object from the
Projects\Objects\CH12\Penguin.lwo
directory this book??™s DVD.
