the panel. This tells the Mirror Hierarchy tool to give the new mirrored bones the
same names as those in the selected hierarchy, but with ???Left??? substituted for
???Right??? in their names.
24. Click OK and the entire bone hierarchy will be mirrored. Figure 12.29 shows
the result.
25. On Layout??™s Setup tab, click Bones and then click Bones On to reactivate the
bones in the model. Select the base bone, which is the parent bone to both sets of
legs. Press y and rotate this bone. You??™ll see both sets of legs deform (Figure 12.30).
OK, they??™re really just feet??”but you get the idea!

for the left leg with the Mirror Hierarchy tool.
Figure 12.30 Rotating the base bone,
which is the parent to the bone hierarchies
for both legs, causes realistic deformation of
the penguin feet.
26. Save your work!
Even though you??™ve added bones to the upper and lower body, moving the feet causes a
bit of unwanted deformation in the body. The foot bones aren??™t deforming the rest of the
penguin too much to be annoying to look at, but you can add even more control by using
the Bone Weight tool.
