Dan Ablan

"Inside LightWave v9"

Thanks,William!
If you intend to reuse a model??™s Skelegon-based structure, be sure to save a copy of
the model and its Skelegons in Modeler before you move your model into LightWave
Layout. Once you convert Skelegons to bones in Layout, they can??™t be changed back
to Skelegons.
3. Select a new layer, making BlueGirl a background layer. Bring the bottom right
viewport to a full screen and, on the Setup menu tab, click Skelegons (Figure 12.40).
Figure 12.40 To create Skelegons, start with a blank layer but put your model in a background
layer for alignment.
Note
4. You start building the skeletal structure for BlueGirl??™s upper body first. Click and
drag from the waist of BlueGirl, up to about her chest, as in Figure 12.41.
The hierarchy you??™ll create can be used for any type of character, from a human, to an
alien creature, or even a four-legged model. You??™ll soon see how easy it is to create a
setup like this using Skelegons. However, do not miss the video portion of this chapter
available as a free download from www.3dgarage.com. The video takes you even further
into bones and rigging by showing you how to set up a full skeletal structure for
a human character, all within Layout.
