Chapter 12 Bones and Rigging 533
?—? If you need to separate Skelegons in a hierarchy, you can use the UnWeld command,
found on Layout??™s Detail tab.
?—? You can instantly create Skelegons from points of an existing object by selecting
the points and clicking Convert Skelegon. The command button is tucked in the
More drop-down menu within the Skelegons tool category, on Modeler??™s Setup tab.
Using Skelegons in Layout
Skelegons are Modeler tools that do their most important work in Layout, where you
convert them to bones that control your model and assign weight maps created for
each Skelegon.
When you??™re constructing Skelegons in Modeler, it??™s often convenient to build them on
separate layers from the objects they??™ll control, so you can arrange the Skelegons without
disturbing the associated objects. Before you load a Skelegon-containing model into
Layout, however, you should cut and paste each finished Skelegon into the layer that contains
the associated objects. This ensures that when each Skelegon is converted to a bone
in Layout, it will be associated with the correct object.
