Chapter 16 Compositing and Postprocessing Techniques 671
1. Load your scene created from Exercise 16.2 or load the VaseComp scene from
this book??™s DVD. This is the background image, with the PlanterMask and Vase
object loaded.
2. Back in LightWave Modeler, create a large flat polygon about 25m in size, as
shown in Figure 16.23.
Figure 16.23 You can create a simple large flat polygon to catch the shadows of the vase
in Layout.
3. When created, press q to set
the name of the new polygon
foyer_shadow or something
similar. Save the object and
send it to Layout.
4. In Layout, move and position
this new object so that it??™s
aligned with the grid in
LightWave.Make sure it??™s
placed beneath the vase, as in
Figure 16.24. You can change
your views to a Top or Side
view to help align the polygon. Figure 16.24 Position the large flat polygon so
that the Vase object rests right on top of it.
5. Just as you did with the planter in
Exercise 16.2, apply a Front type
projection image onto the large
polygon representing the concrete
ground. You can do this with a
Texture map, or within the Node
Editor, as in Exercise 16.
